Whilst the Series-1 drag race bike gets underway I've started to design the Series-2 chassis.

In some respects it's relatively simple to design a drag race bike as you have a limited number of parameters to cater for. Whilst the forces might be extreme we are primarily concerned with handling in straight lines and squat/dive under acceleration. The suspension geometry needs to ensure the bike remains stable under hard acceleration without tendency to wheelie, nor any rear wheel hop or chatter.

Interestingly, because I am using electric motors, and not the traditional motorcycle engine/gearbox, I can experiment with putting the drive sprocket ALONG the swing-arm to negate the tendency of chain tension under hard acceleration affecting the suspension.

I'll be investigating front suspension based upon the Hossack designs because this offers the opportunity to save a lot of weight, which is a critical factor.

This part of the project is on hold at the moment as we put all efforts inot the build and test of the series-1 bike. Call though if you'd like help with your design and build project.
